The Canyons has been the center of all sorts of hubub over the last year, but this time around it’s for a completely different reason: The Spring Gruv.

As spring marches in, the sun comes out, the snow starts to disappear…and a few of us locals start getting a little depressed about having to wait seven or eight months for the snow to return. So in an effort to cheer us up, The Canyons brings up pond skimming (If your not sure what that is, click here for a youTube demonstration).

But Spring Gruv isn’t just about using last seasons skis to make it across an ice cold pond. Gruv refers to the music the festival brings. This years lineup includes well know artists Soul Asylum, local favorite The Metal Gods, as well as Slightly Stoopid and Rusted Root.

For the hard core skier or boarder, feel free to enter the Canis Lupus Competiton. This is a mile long natural half pipe down which they run a slalom course. Great fun, great riding… Feel free to take a look at the video The Canyons has posted.
