This last week The Canyons Resort, Talisker Corp, Vail Resorts, and Wolf Mountain Resorts reached a deal that will expedite what was anticipated to be a lengthy legal dispute. According to the agreement, Talisker Corp. has until May 31, 2008 to close on the deal with American Ski Company.
This is a far departure from the half dozen lawsuits filed across several western states that followed the initial offers by Talisker and Vail Resorts. At the time there was more than a little back and forth regarding who did what, and when.
But in case you missed my original post on this topic, I think what ever shakes out at The Canyons, there’s no bad choice.
If Talisker closes though, this will make them an even more foreboding power when it comes to Park City Real Estate. In addition to The Canyons, Talisker has its paw in the basket at both Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley, as well as various off-mountain locations. If you hadn’t caught the connection yet, Talisker Corp. is also behind the club that bears their name. The Talisker Club provides its members exclusive access to facilities throughout Deer Valley, including the Tower Club building in Empire Pass.
In addition to the on-mountain amenities, the Talisker Club provides membership in The Tuhaye Golf community. Tuhaye centers around the Mark O’Meara designed golf course: 18 holes of endless vistas, challenging greens, and beautiful fairways.
If Talisker can pull things together in time for their May 31 deadline, I anticipate seeing some amazing things happening at The Canyons Resort.
